Nonfiction Text Features

We learned about nonfiction text features this week!  We explored the features in our weekly readers, made an anchor chart, then made a book about NF text features.  Each page contains samples of a feature-- photographs, labels, illustrations, maps, titles, and captions!  Look at our work!

We will continue to get familiar with this all year! We are off to a great start!

Project 64

For the first time since my training, I got to watch Project 64 in action!  Thank you Miss Shelley for teaching our class how to draw a haunted house.  Parents, the class sat for an hour!!!!  During this time, we practice holding crayons/pencils with correct grip, reinforce listening/following directions, sharpen literacy skills, and work on stamina.  Enjoy the pictures!

Pumpkins!

We have spent a couple weeks learning about the features and Lifecycle of a pumpkin, and we are wrapping up this unit by baking pumpkin bread! Here is what we've done...

First, we cooked the pumpkin all day in the crock pot.  This makes the meat soft and ready to cook!

Then we added the wet ingredients and dry ingredients

Thank you, Mrs. Shira, for supervising!
We love it!

We also made a craft to help us understand the Lifecycle of a pumpkin

What a fun, short unit!

Class Store

Our kiddos earn beach bucks for good behavior and doing their class jobs... Friday was our day to spend our hard-earned money!

They had to count their money, sorting their $5 from their $1.  Next week, we will learn to bundle!

Then it was time to buy!

When our trip was over, we drew about our favorite part of the orchard.
